If you are a car enthusiast, then our next story is for you. Bravo Motors this week launched the 2006 edition of its Nissan pathfinder. And while the car is the news, the story is that they actually let our Keith Swift, not someone we'd call an accomplished driver, take a test drive. Here's how that went.

Keith Swift Reporting, [keithkswift@gmail.com]
This is it: the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder. There is only one in the country and today I was one of the first to take it for a test drive.

[Keith Starting Engine]

Okay so maybe I need more driving practice but bravo motors is the agent for Nissan and Sales Manager Emil Torres did a better job marketing the pathfinder than I did driving it.

Emil Torres, Sales Manager - Bravo Motors
"In its class this has the most powerful engine, it has the new diesel technology out. It is a 4-cyclinder, 2.5. A lot of people might think how does that small engine push a big vehicle. It is the newest technology and as I said it is the most powerful in its class. If you look at it you can tell its like a little brother to the Nissan Armada. It's a stylish and bold vehicle."

Keith Swift,
Tell me about the mileage.

Emil Torres,
"You would get something around thirty to thirty five miles for the gallon of diesel. You know gas prices right now are not favorable so definitely you got to turn to diesel.

The Pathfinder is the only vehicle in that class that has a third row seating. It seats seven passengers comfortably, all seats fold away except the driver's seat, and they actually hide into the ground which makes for more cargo room and stuff like that."

And while I fell in love with it, liking the new ride is one thing, but buying it is another, and at $106,000, duty paid, brief and inglorious driving spree...around the parking lot is about all I can afford on a reporter's salary.

You can test drive the Pathfinder yourself beginning on Monday at Bravo Motors on the Western Highway.
