And while the Taiwanese donate for foreign affairs, the European Union is donating for hurricane preparedness.

The Associated Press reports that the EU will donate US$4.3 million in humanitarian aid to be shared between Belize, the Cayman islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname and the Eastern Caribbean Islands. The money is earmarked for the establishment of early warning systems, infrastructure aimed at reducing damage, development of emergency plans and awareness campaigns.
