All the competing parties in the dispute over control of the St. Francis Xavier Credit Union in Corozal came to the Central Bank in Belize City this morning. They were summoned by the Registrar of Credit Unions and
Governor of the Central Bank Sydney Campbell. But the meeting never happened and that's because of a simple oversight and tight security.
7NEWS has confirmed that the name of one of the members of the interim board was left off the security list. Without that, that person couldn't go into the Central Bank. When that happened, the other members of that board got frustrated and headed back to Corozal.
Central Bank Governor Sydney Campbell was not informed and when he found out it was too late, they had already left. That left only the previous board headed by President Luciola West and without all sides present, the meeting could not proceed. It will be re-scheduled but until then the battle for control will continue.
