For weeks, it’s been rumored that Belize Natural Energy has struck oil again, this time at Never Delay – which is just off the Western Highway, near Cotton Tree Village. The story that’s been going around says that the oil spout soared 40 feet into the air when oil was struck.

But the official story from the Department of Petroleum and Geology is that it has not been declared a commercial find. And now, Belize Natural Energy is saying the same thing. A release confirms that there were what are called “oil and gas shows.” These were sufficient to warrant testing the well, and that began on October 26th. Drilling finished on November 6th and further tests are now in process. But that’s it, at least for right now. BNE's statement says that the company will only know if there are commercial quantities until after those tests are completed.
