They are developing a multimillion dollar exclusive 270 acre resort on San Pedro and now the Costa Del Sol Development Company has decided to give back. It is half a million dollar donation and today in Placencia, right after the signing of the CISCO contract, the group handed over the first check for $350,000 to Prime Minister Dean Barrow and San Pedro’s Area Representative Manuel Heredia Jr.

David Mitchell, Costa Del Sol
“We want to support the local municipal government in San Pedro in their job to try to get all the streets paved with cobblestone, getting some street cleaners, and just in general giving back to the community there.”

Alfonso Noble,
Why?

David Mitchell, Costa Del Sol
“I personally lived there so I’d like to see the community go ahead and I like to see that what I’m doing going directly into that community there.”

Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr., Area Representative
“They have decided to give a package of half a million dollars to the San Pedro Town Council and as you see, they’ve given the first amount of $350,000 whcih will be used for equipment, to better the streets and roads of the island.”

Alfonso Noble,
Some people might look and say a million dollars from a development group, it seems kind of like a bribe maybe.

Hon. Manuel Heredia Jr.,
“No, because this people have been doing big developments on the other side of San Pedro to the extent that right now they are putting electricity from one side to the other and just the electrification cable is costing more than a million dollars to put that one so these are serious developers and they bring also other developments along with them so in order to show their appreciation that not only are they making money but they are returning some of this money also. And again, we have to be very clear, we, myself and the Mayor, we have always believed in development, genuine development.”

The remaining $150,000 will be handed over later. We should note the group has been in San Pedro since 1995.
