This morning Marvin Skeen from Belmopan drove out of the Shell One Stop parking lot with a brand new 2009 Suzuki Grand Vitara. He won the $70,000 ride in the “Shell Power Up To Win Promotion.” His name was chosen from 110,000 tickets and all he 1`had to do to enter was purchase $50 worth of fuel from participating Shell Gas Stations between November and January. His name was chosen at 10 am and Skeen was in the city by 11:30 to claim his new ride. He told us he has other vehicles and so he isn’t quite sure what he’ll do with his brand new Grand Vitara.

Marvin Skeen, Winner
“Nervous, very nervous right now, I the shake. I don’t usually win things but finally it happened so I feel good. It is a good feeling.”

Shane Williams, Guardian Newspaper
“So what will you plan to do with the vehicle. I believe that from winning, you probably already have a vehicle so what will you do with this one?”

Marvin Skeen,
“Well not only one, I have a couple vehicles, but right now I am not really worrying about that. I will hold it and see what I do from there.”

Keith Swift,
“You know people always enter these promotions hoping to win but not expecting to win. Was that the case with you?”

Marvin Skeen,
“Oh yeah like I said I never win nothing so I wasn’t expecting to win. Actually last week something came over me and I had that feeling that I probably would have won and I got the call this morning and sure enough I thought it was a little…..but it happened.”

Joe Habet, Sol Belize
“The chances are pretty small. For the promotion we got 110,000 tickets and they were all gone so that is how many chances we had in the barrel. So it was a very good promotion for us.”

Keith Swift,
“What’s the value of the vehicle?”

Joe Habet,
“The value of the vehicle is over $70,000. We got a discount in price but the retail value is over $70,000. It is a four cylinder 2.0 litre gasoline vehicle.”

Joe Habet, the General Manager for Sol Belize Limited says that there was a marked increase in sales at shell gas stations during the promotion.
