Last night we told you about the difficulties consumers will experience when they have to convert gallons of butane into pounds per cylinder.
And we got caught up in the confusion right there. Using information which the bureau of standards sent to us - we told you that four and a half gallons is equal to one pound. But, even though we got it from the relevant authority, that's wrong. A few sharp viewers have pointed out to us that formula would leave you with 450 gallons in a hundred pound tank. Very wrong and very impossible.
The formula is as we first reported it a week ago: one gallon, should weigh four and a half pounds. 22 Gallons in a hundred pound cylinder, should weigh 100 pounds.
It is a little confusing, but when the new Statutory Instrument comes into effect, the unit of sale will be switched over to pounds and so you can ignore the gallons.
The new S.I. will take effect 30 days after it was signed on February 18th., which is March 21st.
