And while the neighbor was less than sympathetic to the dogs - police press officer, Fitzroy Yearwood was very sympathetic to the police man.

Even though a child was injured - he said that in the circumstances what the officer did was understandable:..

Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer
"A police officer accompanied by his brother was walking on Wood Street when a female child of 13 years old open her gate to her yard and the two dogs charge out into the street after my police and his brother. The police was defending himself from these dogs. Obviously these dogs are very big and always charging after people on that street, he fired a shot into the ground. He did not fire a shot after the dog nor the owners of the dog. What happen is that he fired a shot into the ground and apparently it's a chipping off the street flew up and probably caught this young girl. It's unfortunate, I know we are investigating this matter. Internal affairs are investigating it and we have CIB personnel investigating it but at the same time in all fairness to my officer - he was only trying to defend himself from being attacked from two ferocious dogs."

Monica Bodden
"So the bullet did not catch the young woman?"

Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

"Monica, if you visit that scene you will see where that bullet was fired into the ground. Nowhere at the dogs or even at that child."

No charges will be charged will be brought against the police officer.
