But we also asked the PM about a business meeting that he posted to his social media yesterday. It shows him meeting with a former political colleague Henry Canton - who's now a leading figure in agribusiness. He's spearheading a proposed investment in a new industry that sounds almost too good to be true, touting agricultural earnings, energy production, and even environmental benefits.
Here's what Briceno told us about Bamboo plantations that could range from the centre to the south of the country.

John Briceño, Prime Minister Of Belize
"Well what happened is that there are these bio products, bamboo bio-products, a group out of Jamaica, they have set up a new industry. They are growing Bamboo, a special type of Bamboo, that, produces pulp and also the waste is used to produce energy, um, they see that Belize has more land available than Jamaica and they are looking at the possibility of planting anywhere between 20 and 30,000 acres of Bamboo in Belize, they are looking at Southern Belize district to northern Toledo District and they are looking at that area because of the rainfall that is necessary and also they are looking in the Stann Creek district that they have several hundred thousands of acres of land that was for citrus and so it's kind of abandoned, they believe they don't have to clean out any forest and they could use those land to be able to plant. The beauty of this project is that Bamboo is considered a carbon sink so it removes carbon from the atmosphere so by doing these large plantations they could also be producing Pulp, producing energy, and also cleaning out the atmosphere as a carbon sink and it. Would create, a new industry in Belize, create a lot of jobs, a lot of opportunities for Belizeans, I met with him. Well, the two main investors George being one of them, looking at, they have said they have raised almost 500 million USD for this investment. It's an exciting one and I believe and I hope that it can work out and they certainly will have our support. "
