And in our final bit from todays sitting of the house of representatives UDP, Albert area representative Tracy Taegar Panton spoke on a subject that's been very much on the news; that's the closure of legacy businesses in Belize City. She says Belizean owned businesses are struggling:
Tracy Taegar Panton, Albert Ares Representative
"Belizean owned businesses are having a difficult time to remain open. and if you've paid attention to some of the reasons that have been provided by these b business owners madam speaker. The truth of the matter is that some of the policies that have been put in place by this administration have been far more harmful than helpful. Smiling Meats madam speaker, and i've said before that while Mathew Smiling and I don't share the same politics we share the same love for this country and the well being of our citizens. He has been my life long friend madam speaker and he has been pressured out of business."
"Augusto Quan is gone, Bottom Dalla where a lot of our Albert voters shop, has had has announced the closing of their operation after 16 years of doing business. Now if i am to take the hon. prime minister at his word certainly the conditions for doing business in Belize and for supporting particularly local business operators is a matter of high priority. The BCCI has said that when these policies are being made they are not being consulted and had they been consulted on some of these policies we may have had a different outcome."
