And the Belize City Council is also playing its part with the development of an app which will cater to those locally but also in the diaspora. Deputy Mayor Miller commented:
Eluide Miller, Deputy Mayor of Belize City
"We have a desk that is dedicated to really building relationships and keeping in communication with the diaspora and offering the various services that we offer to the diaspora. Of course, we want to be able to do that in a more effective way. And that is one of the things that we're trying to accomplish through the establishment of the Belize City App, which we are currently working on in partnership with Digi and Telepin. And so we want to really bring all the services that we offer to the fingertips of Belizeans at home and residents at home and abroad as well. But I would say we have an excellent relationship. And we have to realize that the diaspora, they're not necessarily only a part of our story, but they're a part of our future as well. And it's certainly important that we engage them and that we continue to do so."
