Cruise passenger arrivals reached 1.4 million over the past twelve months, the highest figure on record and a nineteen percent increase on the previous year, according to figures released by the tourism board on Thursday.

Overnight stays follow the day trade
Hotel occupancy averaged seventy-one percent across the year, up from sixty-two, with the strongest growth recorded in the cayes and the western district. Operators credited three new direct routes from North American carriers.
Business groups cautioned that transport and waste infrastructure at the two main landing points will need investment before arrivals can grow much further.
