Today, Belize City witnessed an eruption of the kind of violence that's been simmering beneath the surface for weeks, as random shootouts have become a near - nightly occurrence in terrorized communities across the South-side. And those who didn't know, do know tonight after two men were murdered this afternoon in a hit that was executed with chilling, cold-blooded precision. Seven News was on the scene:
Alfonso Noble reporting,
Shortly after 1:30p.m. this afternoon, Randolph Tulcey and Patrick Burns were at home, at the corner of Cedar and Logwood Streets, when a vehicle heading North-bound on Cedar pulled up in front of the home. Once in front of Tulcey's residence, as many as five men alighted the vehicle and simultaneously made an armed assault on the occupants of the home. Randolph Tulcey, who was at the lower flat of the building made an attempt to run but was hit as he hid behind a washing machine. Patrick Burns, who was up-stairs, was gunned down as he sat in a couch near the front entrance of the house. The gunmen left no doubt; both Burns and Tulcey sustained a number of gunshots to their heads and bodies. Investigators at the scene recovered 15 expended shells and, based on accounts, it is believed that the assailants may have used a tek-9 to perpetrate this daring daylight murder. As onlookers gathered to get a glimpse of the two bodies, investigators are scrambling to find the killers, and determine their motive.
Randolph Tulcey was a 36 year old who'd had a number of run-ins with the law. Patrick Burns was a taxi-man at the Princess. Police say they have no suspects at the present time but feel that this is the culmination of a succession of close hits and near misses that have occurred between rival gangs in the past three weeks. There are no suspects at this time.
