A father is tonight in police custody pending charges after he shot two of his sons.
Yesterday evening police were called out to the village of Succotz in the Cayo District where they found two young men a 16 year old and a 23 year old suffering from gunshot wounds.
Investigations have revealed that at around 4:30 yesterday evening Diego Cocom arrived home drunk and that's when a bitter family argument erupted. Cocom picked up his licensed 16-gauge shotgun and began to threaten his sons. One of them the 16-year-old Javier Cocom tried to disarm his father but the gun went off injuring him and his brother Elias Cocom. Javier sustained injuries to the left arm and left leg while Elias sustained injuries to the right arm.
Both men were today being treated at the KHMH. They refused to comment to our news team, but investigators are waiting for a medical report to classify the injuries and charge Diego Cocom. Those charges will include attempted murder.
