He was caught up in a special police operation and Brad's proprietor Kim Jien Chee will pay dearly for two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
After pleading guilty to possession charges on Monday, today Chee appeared for sentencing. Magistrate Margaret Gabb-Mckenzie fined Chee $10,000 for the two counts of gun possession and $10,000 each for the two counts of unlicensed ammunition.
That's a total of $40,000 for two guns and ammunition, and what's more $10,000 of it has to be paid by tomorrow. The remaining $30,000 has be paid by September 19th or in default Chee will serve one year for each of the $10,000 fines.
As we've reported, on May 13 a special police strike team led by Assistant Commissioner Bernard Lino to investigate immigration irregularities searched Brad's store and residence at number 104 Vernon street where they found a 9 millimeter pistol, a 12 gauge shotgun, 144 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition and 32 12-gauge cartridges. The immigration documents they were looking for turned up at the other Brad's store in the Farmer's market area but that matter is still pending.
