Earlier on in the newscast we told you how the students at UB are tackling the issue of crime. Today they also lived up to their social responsibility.
The students of the PC repair class of the university today handed over four computers to the primary school at St. Mathew's village. Sure it's only four computers, and they are rebuilt but it is a good gesture and student Marcel Palma told us that it's simply a way of the university reaching out into the community while learning how to repair computers.
Marcel Palma, UB Student
"We pieced together four machines to be taken to St. Mathews village. It came about because the PC repair class decided last year to put together machines and donate it to one of the communities. This year it has become a reality and what we are doing presently is gathering some of the parts we still have left from what we got in from some people, donated parts, and we are just finishing putting some of the machines together. Why St. Mathews? Well we already started the project with them and this year it is coming true."
"This is a learning process and this is the way we practice what they teach us here and it feels better giving back something to the community."
The computers donated were re-built by the PC repair class and they plan to make it an annual event donating to other schools in the area.
