A 22-year-old man has been killed, and this time, it's the San Ignacio police who have to figure out a motive.
Yesterday afternoon at around two police were called to an area one mile east of San Ignacio town on the banks of the Macal River where they found Rodney August bleeding heavily with a large chop wound to his back. August had gone to the area near to the Midas Resort with a female friend, when he was attacked from behind. He was taken to the San Ignacio Hospital, but had to be transferred to Belmopan where he died 9 hours later.
But before he died, he was able to tell police what happened and gave them the name of the man who chopped him. This person has been detained, along with the young lady who has so Far refused to cooperate with investigators. They are expected to be charged tomorrow, but up to this evening, police could not say what motivated the attack.
