He is accused of attacking his stepfather with a machete and now that police have caught up with Anthony O'Conner known as bouncer he is sitting in jail tonight charged with attempted murder.

As we reported on Tuesday, 47-year-old construction worker Derrick Costly was attacked at his Currasow Street home. The previous night he had a disagreement with his common-law wife of 18 years and he claims on Monday afternoon O'Conner the stepson allegedly stormed into his yard and confronted him. O'Conner allegedly pulled a machete and costly received a large cut to his left wrist and a minor cut to his right hand.

Today in court his stepson was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord on charges of attempted murder, dangerous harm, and use of deadly means of harm. O'Conner appeared in court alongside his attorney Dickie Bradley who made a plea for bail.

O'Conner's story in court was that costly had the machete and it was during a struggle for the weapon that he was injured. Meanwhile his attorney Dickie Bradley argued the attack was the result of a domestic dispute and that his client was only defending his mother. Magistrate Lord rejected that submission though saying the new amendment to the crime control act tied his hands. So O'Conner was denied bail and his case was adjourned until August 5th. The same 31 year old Anthony O'Conner was acquitted on a murder charge two years ago.
