Wet road conditions are what most likely caused the death of two men on Saturday night. At 10:15, 28 year old Adolfo Caliz was driving a GEO Prizm with his passenger 17 year old Douglas Hyde between miles 43 and 44 on the Western Highway when he lost control. The car tumbled down the embankment and barreled through a nearby fence. Caliz was crushed to death behind the wheel and died on the spot, while Hyde was taken to the Belmopan hospital where he died shortly after. Responding to the scene, a fire truck from Belmopan also lost control and flipped on the side of the road but no one was seriously hurt.
