She was the first to be indicted to stand trial in the immigration scandal of 2002 and at the beginning of the supreme court session on October 5 Therese Cabral's case will be among 45 that will be presented to the court. But the news for Cabral is good tonight as the 36 counts of forgery and 7 counts of perjury originally leveled against her have been significantly reduced. More than half the charges have been withdrawn and she is now only facing 15 counts of forgery and 6 counts of perjury.
Others that will be taken before the supreme court in this session include policeman Sherwood Wade who will face charges of manslaughter by negligence for the death of civilian Darnell Mcdonald which occurred on June 9 of 2003. Also going to court will be, Ivan Ayuso the former clerk of courts accused of burning down the Paslow building allegedly to destroy evidence against him. He will appear on charges of theft and false accounting. Overall, it's a bumper crop for the supreme court, which has a record 45 cases on its calendar.
