A ten-year-old girl made a narrow escape from a kidnapper last night when she slipped from a man who tried to forcibly take her on his bicycle. The girl and the mother visited the police station last night where they reported that a man grabbed her as she was walking home along with her 8-year-old brother. Today, the child's mother who wished not to be identified told us that the man attempted to take her daughter away and sexually assault her.

Mother,
"I saw my little girl and my son coming frightened to tell me how a boy held her at the corner, by the lane by Xtra House, and he touched her private. She said 'mommy the boy came and held me and touched my private and he wanted to put me on the bike and take me but I pulled myself and I run and then my brother run and come tell so he let me go.' She said the boy didn't say a word to her and he just held and didn't ask her any questions. She said she was coming and bringing some toys and she didn't expect he would do something like that. She said she was opening her toys and the boy just held her with his right hand and with the left hand he tried to put that under her underwear with the fingers. I asked her if it hurt her and she said no because she started to scream. Her brother was trying to help her and when he did, that is when the man held her hand also. So when the man held my son's hand who is 8, her brother, he ran home and that is when the man let her go. When we ran to where it happened, me and my husband, to catch him he had already left."

Alfonso Noble,
Did she tell you the person who he was, a Creole, Spanish?

Mother,
"She said a dark skinned boy and he is wearing a white shirt, a black pants, and a red hat or something red in his head. She was scared that she went into her bed trembling. She started to get fever and so I told her babe you have to get up and let's go, we have to go to the police station. I don't know what to do because when I went to the police station last night I didn't sleep because I start to think what will happen when she goes to school by herself. What will I do? Supposed this man comes out and tries to do her something? And then she is afraid. Right now how you see her there, she looks frightened. I know I have two daughters so I don't know what to do right now to trust them on the street when they go to school and so."

Alfonso Noble,
What about them going out at night?

Mother,
"Well I had stop sending them out at night."

Alfonso Noble,
This time you never send them out right?

Mother,
"No it is them who went out without me knowing. It is when I noticed they had already went out so I already talked to them and tell them from today, from last night, they will stop going out after 5 and they will stay home. So they say yes because they are frightened and they already know what will happened to them. I saw to all the mothers who have the child they need to really be careful and try to not send them out late at night because so much things are happening. I try to tell them to be careful especially when you have those little girls who are growing up you have really take care of them."

Police say they are investigating while they warn parents to be especially vigilant with their children.
