Another Belize City neighborhood is reeling from the fright of random gunfire in the night. Around 9 last night police report that an armed and masked gunman, for no apparent reason, fired as many as 8 shots in the Jump Street area. And while luckily there were no human casualties or injuries, tonight a dog is still clinging to life after being hit by 2 of the bullets. Keith Swift visited the area today where the dog known in the neighborhood as "Brownie" still laid in the spot where he was shot-up. An area resident who asked to be identified only as "Lance" heard the shot. He says Jump Street is one big family and one of their family members was shot last night.

Lance, Witness
"I heard about 4, 5, or 6 shots and you know when those start going bang bang bang you don't know how many of them there are."

Keith Swift,
Who was he shooting at?

Lance,
"Well I am not sure of that. All I know is that all of us around here are a big family, Jump Street, so I don't know who he could possibly come after."

Keith Swift,
Did you see the person?

Lance,
"Well I see a person but you can't see no face if a person have on full black, all black gloves everything, and mask over the face."

Keith Swift,
What this does this do for your sense of security in such a small neighborhood?

Lance,
"Yeah man because something like this doesn't really happen. You know we hear a lot of gunshots all around those neighborhoods but not through Wagner's Lane, if you know what I mean. It really messed up too cause if you look over this side we have a lot of kids through here and sometimes these kids don't go in (to sleep) until 10 o'clock in the night so that is punishment man."

Keith Swift,
Was the dog a part of the family you talked about?

Lance,
"The dog must be a part of the family man, you know if anybody comes through the neighborhood who is not necessarily from around here these dogs, woof woof, look out for we too."

Police have a suspect detained and further report that they recovered six spent 9 millimeter shells from the area.
