A mother and her infant child drowned on Thursday in Hattieville. At 2:00 in the afternoon, police were called to a dug out pond which is off the highway at mile 16 and three quarters and found the body of 17 month old Austin Young floating in the pond. Police saw the signs that he has been with an adult and they continued to search. Almost 5 hours later they found the body of his mother, 20 year old Desiree James. Post mortem examinations showed that they both died from drowning.
