Four sports utility vehicles stolen in the U.S. and found in Belize have been returned to the country of origin. The U.S. Embassy today announced that a 1999 and a 2003 Cadillac Escalade, a 2002 Nissan Xterra, and a 2003 Lincoln Navigator valued at nearly US$200,000 were returned to the U.S. National Insurance Crime Bureau and the General Motors Corporation. The embassy states that over US$1 million worth of stolen vehicles have been imported into Belize within the past two years.

And while U.S. authorities are happy to have at least four of their vehicles back, in Belize two vehicle owners have had their vehicles stolen. Andrew Morgan told police that between 9 and 10:50 last night someone stole his red 1988 Toyota Camry that he had parked in front of his residence on Mosul Street. Meanwhile another man Omar Tillett of Orange Walk told police that around 8:30 also last night, he parked his gold in color Dodge Ram pickup truck in front of Candy's Ice Cream Parlor in Orange Walk Town when within five minutes it was stolen. The Camry bears license plate number C-6399 while the Dodge Ram bears license plate 11000. The police are asking anyone with information on these vehicles to contact the nearest police station.
