Two men appeared in Magistrate's court this afternoon where they were formally charged with the crime of murder. 21-year-old Michael Young and 23 year old Roland Smalls were taken before a magistrate where they were read charges of murder for the killing of 39 year old taxi-man Rudrick Todd.

Smalls had been charged individually yesterday but that charge was withdrawn today, when new evidence appeared which allowed him to be charged along with the man police say is his accomplice, Michael Young.

So far police have determined that the motive for the murder is a car jacking. Investigators believe that sometime on the night of June fourteenth, the two men flagged down the taxi. When Todd stopped, they immediately overpowered him and put him in the trunk. They shot him in the head sometime after that and then threw the body on the side of the road.

Police say that the pair wanted to use the car to go on another crime mission, and that's why it was found abandoned a day later. As investigation into this mission continues, more charges against the pair may follow. But for the time being, they remain under remand for murder until July 20th.
