Woman Murders Woman in Cayo

A 23-year-old woman was savagely stabbed to death last night and the alleged culprit is another woman.

Sometime around 11:30, police visited the Western Regional Hospital where they found Guatemalan national Jessica Salguero. She had been stabbed to the chest and died as a result of the injury.

Salguero, an employee of Cozy Corner Bar in San Ignacio was in the company of 5 other women when she visited San Pedro's Bar. At some point during her visit, one of her companions got involved in an altercation with another woman at which point Saldero tried to assist. This is when she was stabbed in the chest.

Police have detained one woman, believed to be also a Guatemalan, whom they expect to charge shortly for murder.
