We may see it as 'chancey', but the street thugs preying on young boys and their bicycles just see it as easy picking. In separate incidents yesterday, young men were beaten and robbed by pairs of men.
The first occurred around noon when 11-year-old Eric Willis Jr. was riding his bike on Elston Kerr Street and was accosted by two men. One of the men punched him, while the other jumped on his bike and rode off.
The second victim is 15-year-old Alexis Mai. He says that around 8 last night he was riding on beach cruiser near the Complex Building on Mahogany Street when two men demanded his bicycle. Mai says he tried to ride off but that's when he was pushed and punched off his bike. The men then rode off with his bicycle.
Police haven't said if the two cases are related but they are investigating.
