Three persons were killed in accidents over the weekend.

The first fatality was the result of a hit and run...well sort of. 49-year-old Orange Walk resident Santiago Castillo is the victim and police say he was the passenger in a Geo Prizm traveling northbound from Orange Walk to Corozal. Police believe the driver lost control between miles 58 and 59 and the vehicle flipped. Castillo received severe head and body injuries. Those injuries later proved to be fatal. The only problem is that police are still searching for the driver who fled the scene. They are also still trying to determine his identity.

The second fatality was around 8 on Saturday night when 25-year-old Francisco Che was run over by a bus on the Southern Highway. He was hit by a James Bus driven by 24-year-old Brian Williams. Williams tells investigators that he was driving south bound and when he reached near Indian Creek Village he saw a man lying in the middle of the road. Williams claims he was unable to avoid hitting the person later identified as Francisco Che who is a resident of Hicate Village. Che died later Saturday night at the Punta Gorda Town Hospital.

In the third accident, 24-year-old Karla Wade was killed in an early morning collision near mile 82 on the Northern Highway. Police say that around 4 am on Sunday, Wade was a passenger in a Mitsubishi car which was southbound on the way to Orange Walk when it came head on with a Ford Explorer heading to Corozal. The result was deadly for Wade who is a resident of Calcutta Village. She was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead on arrival police are investigating all three accidents.
