6 Days: 11 year old Rape Victim Still Detained

Tonight makes it 6 days since an 11 year old has been remanded at the Youth Hostel after she was charged for the abduction of an 18-year-old male who she alleges sexually assaulted her. On Friday night, you heard Director of the Community Rehabilitation Department in the Ministry of Human Development, Fermin Olivera tell us that his office will try to get the child back home.

Well, today he told us that he and his officers are still trying to get her out but have so far been unsuccessful. While they continue to try, the next best thing for them to do is wait until the child reappears in court on Thursday. Olivera says his department ill monitor it closely and try to get her home as soon as possible.
