A manhunt is on tonight for the man who brutally chopped his girlfriend in the head and severed three of her fingers. That woman is Julia Amaya and the prime suspect, a Honduran national, is on the run. Police say that around 9:30 last night they responded to a call from the Kelly Street home of the couple where they found Amaya bleeding from chop wounds to her head. Three of the fingers on her right hand had been cut off. Amaya underwent surgery this afternoon and is now in the recovery ward. Her common-law husband fled after the incident. Police are not releasing his name. Both are Honduran nationals.
