He's Special Constable John Pollard; he works for the City Council; and as the man in charge of enforcing liquor license laws, this is what he does, crack down on Chinese liquor vendors.

But now the Belize Chinese Association has sent a letter to the Prime Minister, the Mayor, the Commissioner of Police and the Minister of Home Affairs complaining that instead of enforcing the law, Pollard is taking advantage of Chinese grocers.

The letter, signed by three community leaders including president Jimmy Quinto alleges that Pollard has been shaking down Chinese grocers. The letter quotes the case of Jon Ho Chen of Bobo Shop on Central American Boulevard who, the letter claims, refused to pay Pollard a bribe and was then locked down on what they claim are false charges. The letter also points to the case of another Chinese grocer who was locked down without charges allegedly because he refused to give Pollard money.

These are allegations but they come with the stamp of one of the most powerful communities in Belize and it's left to be soon with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Commissioner of Police, or Pollard's direct employer Zenaida Moya will do in response.
