5 more dangerous weapons have been taken off the street, two of them in Cayo. Yesterday morning, San Ignacio police received information that guns were hidden in some bushes in the Linda Vista area of Santa Elena. At 9:45 a team visited the area and found a gun case wrapped in a green canvas buried in the ground. Inside, police found a black 9 millimeter Luger tech nine pistol with a magazine containing 6 live rounds. The serial number of the gun had been filed off.
But that wasn't the end of it, police stayed in Linda Vista and followed another clue to a residential area where they found a black plastic bag buried in the ground. Inside they found another Luger, this one a 9-millimeter pistol with a magazine loaded with 9 live rounds.
Police believe these weapons have been used in the past couple of months in the commission of a number of gun related offences in the area. Police have so far detained one man pending charges. Two others are being sought.
