Belmopan police are investigating a disturbing case of what appears to be the gang rape of a 13-year-old Cotton Tree Village girl. So far one man has been charged for rape. He is Darren Young, a 25 year old, also of Cotton Tree Village.
The police investigation has shown that over a week ago, on Easter Monday April 17th, at 1:00 am, the 13 year old was walking to her sister's home in the village. What was a young girl doing on the street at 1:00 in the morning? So far, police have determined that she had been at a village dance, and that she had been drinking. That's when Young allegedly rode up to her, put the girl on his bicycle crossbar and took her to an abandoned house in the village where he raped her. Now, police have reports that two other grown men also participated. The investigation continues and other charges may follow.
