He ruthlessly lashed a man to death with a '2 by 4' and Kirk Gordon will spend the rest of his life in jail for it. Today a jury convicted Gordon of murder and minutes later a judge sentenced him to life.
Gordon was accused of the November 2003 killing of Arthur Ellis on Kraal Road. The two got into an altercation when Gordon reportedly asked Ellis to move his van out of the way so he, Gordon, could drive out of his yard. Gordon refused and that is when he claims Ellis put a knife to his throat and threatened him.
In a statement from the dock Gordon claimed he acted in self defense when he brutally beat Ellis in the face. The jury didn't buy that argument one bit because after only one hour of deliberations they returned with the unanimous verdict.
Gordon's attorney Simeon Sampson asked Justice John Troadio Gonzalez for an immediate sentence. In delivering the life sentence Justice Gonalez said Ellis wasn't killed with a lethal weapon which is testament to the brutality of the crime. Gordon's family vowed to appeal.
