He's a security guard and is supposed to have been looking out for the customers at the establishment where he was employed, but tonight, Stephen Warren who works at Raul's Rose Garden at mile 8 on the Western Highway stands accused of theft.
43-year-old Sergio Garcia reported to police that on the 27th of September he was at 'the garden' when he was asked to move his Toyota Rav 4 that was in the parking lot. Instead of doing it himself Garcia says he gave the keys to the security guard. About an hour later Garcia was leaving and when he checked inside a black bag in the vehicle where he had $7,200 in cash, the money was gone.
Police quickly arrested Warren and was taken to court yesterday. Remarkably, he admitted to having had the money but said that it was only $4,000. He added that he didn't steal it, but found it scattered all over the parking lot. He also claimed that he gave most of it away. Even so, he was denied bail and remanded to custody until October 13th.
