On Thursday we told you about a break in at Holy Redeemer Primary School. That burglary occurred on Wednesday night and it was bad enough. But not quite enough for the thief or thieves...because, consecutively, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights they broke into as many as 6 classrooms. But on Saturday, it came to a halt as a man was caught in the act. Today we spoke with school principal Molly Hewlett who is relieved that the burglary spate is now ended.

Alfonso Noble Reporting,
Holy Redeemer School authorities have had to secure their school buildings as best they could after a thief or thieves broke into as many as 6 classrooms between Wednesday and Saturday.

Molly Hewlett, Principal
"Since Wednesday we have been suffering from break-ins; Wednesday night, Thursday night, and Friday night. Luckily early Saturday morning the thief was caught in a classroom."

That thief was found inside this classroom by a security guard who was on the compound. He was detained and police were called in. He has been identified as 34-year-old Dale Lino he was taken to Magistrate's Court where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Today Principal of Holy Redeemer Molly Hewlett told us they believe Lino is the same person who had broken into the school on numerous occasions.

Molly Hewlett,
"More or less we figure it is the same person because it is the same kind of items they are taking like water bottles, fans, and items like those.

The person used the same way to get into the classroom. We figure more or less it is the same person."

And while the man responsible is now behind bars the school is now still trying to recover from the theft of items as well as having to bear additional expenses to repair the damage.

Molly Hewlett,
"We are happy. I hope it will stop because it will cost the school a lot. We have to repair locks, doors. So we are happy that the person has been caught and we hope we won't be suffering any thing like that again because it really costs the school and it breaks down the teachers' morale when they reach the classroom and find it all messed up. It is really frustrating because parents and teachers have worked so hard to try and accumulate certain stuff in their classroom to find that these things like fans, which are necessary for the classroom, and other items, it is just that the children are suffering because parents work hard to supply the school with some of these things, the school itself has to maintain itself, so it is quite costly. The repairs itself is even more costly because we have to repair the doors, put in new locks, strengthening doors, it is costly."

Costly to the tune of over a thousand dollars and while the school is trying to figure out on how the money will be raised to pay for the expenses, they are at least glad that this man is behind bars.

While the man identified himself as Dale Lino he is also know as Robinson, Rhamdas, Dominguez and his aka "Layta Fi Dinna." In court today he told Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord that he is glad to be going to jail which will help him overcome crack addiction.
