Adventist Church Cleaned Out of $64,000

Over the weekend burglars stole $64,000 in cash from a vault inside the head office of the Belize Adventist Church. The church's treasurer Abilio Ciman told police that between 1:00 on Friday afternoon and 8 Sunday night, the church's office on a street in the King's Park area was burglarized. Ciman says the burglars gained access to a vault and stole US$25,238 and an additional $13,643.90 in Belize currency. Ciman declined to comment and police say investigations continue.
