Last we told you the tragic end to the search for 74 year old Raymond Simon. The 74 year old went missing from his Vista Del Mar home on January 12th and his badly decomposed body was found on the outskirts of Orange Walk Town yesterday evening. Because of the state of the body - a post mortem to determine the cause of his death is inconclusive. But as we reported last night, police don't believe foul play was involved since Simon was found with all his jewelry. He was involved in a collision near the Orange Walk Bypass the day he went missing and police say that since he was already ill, he probably wandered off and succumbed to the elements. Police Press Officer G. Michael Reid says the department tried its best to find Ray Simon.
G. Michael Reid, Police Press Officer
"You comb the area and still miss something because this is a wide area, a bushy area."
Keith Swift,
His family came to us very upset because they said they made a report to police and the police refused to investigate.
G. Michael Reid,
"That is a matter of perception on their part. The police did everything possible to try to find this individual. Things do happen. It is an unfortunate situation and personally we offer condolences to the family. As you know, he is a brother of Nuri who worked with us for a while."
Ray Simon was the older brother of well-known media personality Nuri Muhammed, formerly Bert Simon.
