Man Killed in Pickup Collision

A passenger sitting in the bed of a pickup was killed in a traffic accident early this morning. It occurred around 5 am on the Hummingbird Highway between miles 32 and 33. 57-year-old Julian Polanco was driving his red Mazda pickup towards Dangriga when he collided into 40-year-old Salvador Vasquez's pickup, which was headed towards Belmopan. Maximiliano Quintero who was sitting in the bed of Polanco's pickup and the impact caused him to slam his head on a cross bar. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. Police are questioning both drivers.
