Last night a woman who was raped and brutally stabbed inside her home told us that the police have refused to provide an officer to guard her while she recovers at the KHMH. The victim says she was told the department doesn't have enough officers. Well at today's press briefing we put to the question to the head of Eastern Division Allen Whylie. He says he isn't sure if a request was made but cautioned that providing her with protection might open the floodgates.

"I am not aware that she had requested but again we would have to look at our human resources to see what we would be able to do in respect to that. Certainly if we were to go that way, then everybody would again be seeking police protection."
Police say they have recorded a statement from her and they are aggressively investigating her report.
