As we noted, four Chinese groceries have been held up since Monday. The first happened on Monday afternoon at the corner of Prince Street and East Canal when a Crystal truck was making a delivery at Ding's Store. The Bowen and Bowen employees were robbed of the company's moneybag with a few hundred dollars.
Later that day, two men, a father and son were shot at Mei Mei shop on George Street. The older man, Bing Chang Zhao is still in a critical condition. Later on that same night, that same store was cleaned out by burglars.
And then on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am, two masked men stormed into Anges Store on Third Street in the King's Park area. One of them had a gun, ordered the security guard Emmanuel Edeani to the ground and took his cell phone. And then, last night, it was the robbery and shooting at the corner of Craig and Daly Streets.
A violent week for Chinese store-owners and information to us says the Belize Chinese Association is preparing to embark on a campaign to circulate petition urging government to enforce the death penalty.
