The PUP's national convention will be held a week from Sunday in Corozal. Right now, the most interesting storyline is the rivalry between the Musa/Fonseca faction and the Briceno/Courtenay faction. As we told you a week ago, Mike Espat looks as if he will be challenging Briceno for his post as party deputy leader. And now, the news is that Eamon Courtenay is offering himself as treasurer, but Fonseca loyalist Rodwell Ferguson has been put to challenge him for that spot. Depending on which side blinks first, the tensions between the two camps may escalate in the days to come. The Prime Minister has a week somehow create that kumbaya spirit out of this contention and competition. Today he told the press that with the last two conventions being held on Sunday and Tuesday, his party is all ready.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"Well we will have all 31 horses in the ready to take off and of course on Sunday we're hoping to have a very massive and successful dynamic national convention of the party as we now move into the full campaigning for the general elections."

Jules Vasquez,
Will you encourage your supporters to support John Briceno as your deputy party leader?

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"Yes."

Jules Vasquez,
Not Mike Espat.

Rt. Hon. Said Musa,
"I answered your question."

In the interest of maintaining party peace, we know that Briceno and Courtenay met with the Prime Minister yesterday to discuss their options.
