He allegedly choked a puppy to death and threatened to do the same to his father - which is why when a 14 year old boy, whose name we can't report since he's under age, appeared in court today his father asked the Magistrate to send his son to jail.
The 14-year-old minor was actually in court on a charge of keeping a sixteen gauge cartridge without a license. He was busted by police on July 28th 2006 and he pled guilty on July 31st of 2006. Family Court Magistrate Natalia Carter had deferred sentencing pending outcome of a request for judicial review by the boy's attorney Anthony Sylvestre. His request was based on the fact that the Firearms Act made no provisions for first time offenders who are minors.
Well more than one year later, the 14 year old boy was back before Magistrate Carter today and he was sentenced to 6 six months in prison. The boy's father told the court that his 14-year-old son had threatened to kill him and he was afraid. Along with the sentence, Magistrate Carter also ordered a psychiatric exam. A test done several months ago certified that he was fit to stand trial.
