Two days after being sought by police for questioning, twenty eight-year-old auto car dealer Roberto Villanueva turned himself in. Villanueva is the man who allegedly collected a total of twelve thousand five hundred dollars from two local businessmen to buy two vehicles. They told police they paid the money, but never got the cars.
This morning police escorted the car dealer over to Magistrate's Court where Villanueva was formally arraigned on the charges of two counts of obtaining property by deception. Roberto Villanueva, who is represented by attorney Kareem Musa, pled not guilty in front of Magistrate Dorothy Flowers who offered him five thousand dollars bail plus one surety of the same amount. The case was adjourned for February eight.
Meanwhile in the case involving another alleged con artist, Belize City police are still looking for one Ali who stole over twenty eight thousand dollars from the Atlantic Restaurant proprietor thirty five year old Yuan Ging Situ. Situ says he gave the man he knows only as Ali the cash after he had promised to change the Belize money to U.S. currency.
