Tonight the police continue to look for Lenny Bennett, the man who shot twenty one year old Christina Zetina in her leg. Zetina remains in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in a serious condition. The young woman reportedly has no feelings in her left leg and it is not certain if she will ever be able to walk normally again. Today she spoke to 7NEWS to deny police reports that she and Bennett had a previous relationship. In fact Zetina says they were only friends but after he started to make advances following his release from the Hattieville Prison she stopped communicating with him.

In the following tearful interview Zetina appealed to the public to not only help her get the help she needs to walk again but to help the police find the man who put her in the KHMH. According to Zetina, on Monday night when she was shot she and her boyfriend were taking her mother in law to work and on the way back they saw Bennett but she never expected him to open fire on them.

Christina Zetina, Shooting Victim
"We just continued to ride and as we passed him he opened fire. At close range he hit me in my leg and he still continued to shoot, four shots. I just want to make everybody know that me and him didn't have anything. We were just friends."

Jacqueline Godwin,
You were shot in your leg, what is the doctor saying about your prognosis?

Christina Zetina,
"I might not even walk again. My foot, my toe doesn't have any feeling. I don't know why he did this to me. I want his family and everybody to see what he did to me, how he made me punish. I am only 21, can't walk again. I just want justice. My sister is giving an award to anyone who could lead us to him, $500 reward. I just wish the public will just help me and let me get from out here and get more assistance because I won't make it with my foot in here, I need to go for further assistance."

The police say they have received some leads but so far have been unable to locate Lenny Bennett. However 7NEWS understands that Bennett is still hiding out in the Ladyville area and that he is armed. We have also received reports that Ladyville police have detained a young man, who is a resident of the area and the person who allegedly gave Bennett the gun but we understand that he has been telling police he did not know why Bennett wanted the weapon.

Meanwhile if you can help the police find Lenny Bennett contact the nearest police station or crime stoppers at 0 – 800 – 922 – 8477. The Zetina family is offering a financial reward of five hundred dollars for the capture and arrest of Lenny Bennett. If you would like to help Christina Zetina in getting the medical attention she needs you can contact her at the KHMH or telephone number 604–3169.
