And to add to the staggering toll of dead bodies, there’s one more to tell you about tonight. Around nine this morning, a badly decomposed body of a Hispanic man was found floating face up on the edge of the Mopan River behind Clarissa Falls in the Cayo District. According to the Cayo Star Newspaper, the body was clad in a dark blue sport shirt and long jeans pants with a prominent silver buckle.

Sources tell 7NEWS that while there were no visible signs of injuries observed, police do not know if the man was a victim of drowning or foul play. It is estimated that the body may have been in the water between two to three days. 7NEWS also understands that local law enforcement has been working along with their counterparts in neighboring Guatemala because it is believed the victim may be from across the border.

We understand that a post mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
