Yesterday we told you about Delroy Chaplin who was caught in the act of robbing a Chinese store on Meighan Avenue. He was expected to be charged for that armed robbery but today in court, he was slapped with many more charges. He faces 6 counts because police say he is responsible for two robberies at the same address within a two day period.

According to police, Chaplin has been identified by his victims as the same gunman who entered the home of Chinese businesswoman, Fei Quing Wu, on Monday, and stole $1,750 in cash along with a stash of phone cards. And then yesterday, he went into the store which adjoins the house with a gun. But when he came back, Zhu refused to give up without a fight, that’s when she grabbed the gun and started to struggle. A police mobile in the area was quick to respond to the robbery in progress and arrested him.

In court #1, in front of Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb-McKenzie, Chaplin was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He was additionally charged with two counts of aggravated burglary for Monday and Wednesday’s hold-up’s and one count of keeping an unlicensed firearm, a.25 pistol and one count of keeping an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was denied bail due to the nature of the offense. His case was adjourned for September 21.
