Just after one this morning residents living in the vicinity of Cemetery Road and Amara Avenue were awakened by the sound of gunshots from Kevin’s Bar where an attempted robbery had just occurred. But this time, it’s the robbers not the proprietor who took the brunt of the fire. By all accounts the robbers did not manage to get away with anything, because a patron came to the bar owner’s rescue by firing his licensed weapon. The bullet caught one of the culprits who police apprehended when they arrived at the location. Today an eyewitness who just happen to be socializing outside told us what he saw when he saw three suspicious looking young men approach the building and then hold up the business owner fifty three year old Yukkai Kwok.

Eyewitness,
“Well I saw three persons, two persons in red shirts and one person in white with blue jeans. One person I see approached the entrance of the bar, put the hood over his head, and he held his hand to his hip as if he had a gun.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
And then they entered the establishment?

Eyewitness,
“Exactly. As they entered the establishment we heard the ringing of several gunshots. Myself and my cousin walked inside. Two persons ran off and one person who appeared to be shot ran to the restroom. That person was apprehended by the police.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
So when the police arrived on the scene they found this individual. More than likely he was one of the suspects hiding in the bathroom?

Eyewitness,
“Well I was there and I saw.”

Jacqueline Godwin,
Where was he hit?

Eyewitness,
“Apparently in his leg.”

While police would not release the name of the sixteen year old sources tell 7NEWS he has been identified as one Diondray McKoy, a resident of Mahogany Street. While the eyewitness recall seeing an injury to the minor’s leg, police say he was hit one time to the pelvic area. At the scene, police recovered five expended shells all believed to have come from a nine milimeter Smith and Wesson pistol. As for the patron now described as a good samaritan, albeit with a licensed, locked and loaded weapon. He has been identified only as a businessman from the area.
