A man claims the police opened fire inside his yard this evening for no good reason. Colin Gillett stopped by our studios a short while before news time. He says around 5:30 a team of officers dressed in black went into his yard on Jasmine Street and one of them fired a shot which could have injured one of his children. He brought us the expended shell to prove his story and says he has no problem with how the police does its job, it’s all about the approach.
Collin Gillett,
“Again the man they ran into my yard, shoot up, I got pickney right there, and I was asking them what happened. They said a dog was looking to bite them and no dog barked after them. Two persons were outside and they said no dog barked after them. They just come and they shoot up and the man who they were chasing didn’t run go anywhere. He was behind a barbecue grill and they told him to see the thing he threw away and to pick it up. See the shell right here which they bust in the yard and I have young pickney and so. I explained to them I have young pickney. I don’t no problem with you doing your duty but not like that. That is not right mi brother.”
Gillett isn’t inclined to file a formal complaint. His brother, who the police were after, is detained.
