Yesterday evening, Belmopan Police were called out to Cotton Tree Village where they found 30 year old Ronnie Aguilar dead; he had been shot multiple times. Aguilar was supposed to have gone to sell some marijuana, but the drug deal went wrong – and the only smoke that came out of that deal was from the barrel of a gun. I went out west to Cotton Tree to find out more.

Thirty year old Salvadoran national Rony Osvaldo Aguilar is no stranger to the police. In fact he was previously arrested for drug possession but when Belmopan Police visited his residence in Cotton Tree Village on Thursday evening, it was to remove his gun riddled body. He had been shot and killed in some nearby bushes.

“He had visible, what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the right side
of the face near the mouth, one to the right side of the neck under the chin, and one to the right upper shoulder.”
The killer has been described only as a Hispanic man who went to the victim’s residence to purchase marijuana but fifteen to thirty minutes after Aguilar left with the buyer to a bushy area to the back of the property, three gunshots rang out.

“Initial investigations reveal that he was at his home when someone came looking for him and he left to the area where he was found.”
It is believed that Aguilar knew his killer. At this time police believe robbery to be the motive.

“Upon reaching the crime scene and observing the male person, we noticed that a struggle may have occurred due to the fact that his shirt was torn and we also received information that the male person had two gold chains on him along with some cash and a red in color LG brand cellular phone.”
Two persons are detained but they are not expected to be charged.
WPCL Alma Mortis,
“At this point they have just been detained for questioning and will be released more than likely yes. Well at this time the investigation is an open investigation and we are asking the public to come forward if they have any information that may lead to an arrest and we on our side will do our best to ensure that this case is solved.”
Two men are detained but none of them have been charged. Police are searching for one more suspect.
